Queens Naturalization Attorneys
Helping You Achieve U.S. Citizenship
Becoming a U.S. citizen is one of the highest honors in the United States. If you are a lawful permanent resident (green card holder) residing in Queens and have lived in the U.S. for at least five years, you may be eligible for naturalization. For those married to a U.S. citizen, the eligibility period is reduced to three years. Additionally, certain military members, spouses of U.S. citizens stationed abroad, and children of U.S. citizens may also qualify for naturalization.
The process of applying for U.S. citizenship can be difficult and time-consuming. We at Law Office Of Patricia M. Machado, P.C. have successfully guided many clients through the naturalization process. Our Queens naturalization attorneys can assist you in getting ready for each stage, including the citizenship exam and the final interview.

Applying For Naturalization In The U.S.
To apply for naturalization, you need to submit your application to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The form should include comprehensive details about your past residences, jobs, and travel history. You'll also have to supply the necessary supporting documents and pay the required fees.
You will receive a notification from USCIS regarding biometrics (fingerprinting) after filing your application. To get your fingerprints taken, you will need to go to a Queens facility that has been approved by the USCIS. Your fingerprints will be used by USCIS to investigate your background. You could not be eligible for naturalization if you have a criminal record or if you have committed specified felonies.
After your background investigation is finished, USCIS will give you an interview appointment notification. The interview will take place at a USCIS office in Queens. Bring your green card, the appointment notice, and any other paperwork that may be needed. Bring your passport and any reentry permits or refugee travel documentation if you have gone outside of the United States since obtaining your green card.
During your naturalization interview, you will be questioned about your background and the details of your application. You'll also need to complete civics and English language tests unless you have a medical condition that exempts you. Upon passing these tests and having your application approved, you'll receive an invitation to the USCIS Oath of Allegiance ceremony, which is a mandatory event where you'll pledge loyalty to the United States.
How Long Does Naturalization Take?
Naturalization might take a long time. Depending on a number of variables, including the USCIS field office processing your application, processing periods may differ. The procedure can take longer if there is a problem with your application or if you need to submit more supporting material.
You might be able to speed up the naturalization procedure in certain circumstances. For instance, you might be eligible for accelerated processing if you are in the military or are looking for a job that needs U.S. citizenship. Our Queens naturalization lawyers can assist you in comprehending your choices and choosing the best course of action.
